Why Are Routine Eye Exams Important?

Here at Carolina Vision Care, we recommend that our patients see us yearly for eye exams. Do you know why our Greenville optometrist recommends you have your eyes checked this often?

Greenville Optometrist : The Importance of Comprehensive/ Routine Eye Exams

You may think of your eye exam as just a reason to update your prescription. However, there is a lot more that happens during a routine eye exam. During a yearly eye exam, our optometrist in Greenville will check two main areas: Your eye health and your visual acuity.

Eyes tell you a lot about your overall health and show early indicators of eye diseases such as macular degeneration. When we test your eye health, we enable you to take early action against health conditions for faster, less costly treatment.

We also test your eye muscle strength and coordination, eye alignment, visual teaming, and ability to focus. Finally we check for the presence of refractive error, like nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Greenville Eye Doctor: Why You Need To See Us For Your Eye Exam

There is no substitute for seeing an eye doctor for your eye exam. Vision screenings, such as those that you get when you have your driver's license renewed, do not substitute for eye exams. These screenings only check for basic vision health and do not check your eye health. Your family physician cannot perform an eye exam either; in fact, studies have shown that physicians offering eye exams routinely miss health problems.

We at Carolina Vision Care take eye emergencies as well as scheduled appointments. We pride ourselves on offering professional eye care and personal attention at every appointment. A family-friendly eye doctor, we care for patients of all ages.

As a North Carolina optometrist, Dr. McIntosh and the staff at Carolina Vision Care provide caring, comprehensive eye care to residents of Greenville and surrounding communities including Aden, Outer Banks of Virginia and Winterville communities. We are here for all your eye care needs, so please contact us at 252-752-4380 if you would like to make an eye exam appointment.

From when I walked in the staff was cheerful and happy. I had a lady take me back for the pre-exam part and she was such a sweetheart ! Then the eye doctors daughter who is also the contact lady was sooo nice and made me feel at home! Amazing, amazing place!"
